The Thumper TDC-25 is designed to be used an in line DC battery Charger, suitable for AGM / GEL / Wetcell type batteries.

Rated to 25 Amps, the TDC-25 offers a cost effective alternative for DC charging for Lead acid batteries in low voltage vehicles. Allowing for an input voltage as low as 8 Volts and producing a filtered output of 14.5 Volts, this is the perfect choice for low voltage vehicles.

The TDC-25 is designed to suit 24 Volt vehicles, with an input voltage between 8-36Volts. Simply use the TDC-25 in your 24Volt vehicle and it will again offer a filtered power output for charging lead acid batteries at 13.8 Volts.

Unlike traditional DC chargers on the market, the Thumper TDC-25 is not fitted with an isolator component, meaning it MUST be used in conjunction with an existing dual battery isolator, or our Thumper TUR-L wiring loom.

Thumper recommend that the isolator used with the TDC-25 is best suited as an ignition activated relay (rather than a traditional voltage sensitive relay, VSR). The reasoning behind this recommendation is that a VSR isolator would usually require a minimum input voltage of 13.2-13.5volts from the alternator in order to engage charging. If fitted to a newer model vehicle, then the voltage may be <13.2volts and consequently, a VSR may not engage to allow the TDC-25 to charge.

In contrast to a VSR, an ignition activated isolator will engage immediately with the vehicle's ignition. This isolator will therefore act as the perfect option to allow the TDC-25 to start charging immediately with the vehicle's ignition, and will cease to charge immediately when the vehicle's ignition is switched off.

How to use:

The TDC-25 is fitted with easy 'quick connect' Anderson connectors

  • Grey Anderson connector: Input connection from the vehicle's alternator
  • Black Anderson connector: Output to secondary battery (Lithium battery)
  • The unit may be used loosely as an In line option, or, it may be fitted permanently via the mounting holes.

      It is recommended that a fuse/circuit breaker be fitted in line between the TDC-25 and both the input and the output batteries. This is to ensure protection along the entire wiring circuit.

      Q. Do I need to install an Isolator in the vehicle with the TDC-25?

      Yes. Failure to install an isolator in a system when using the TDC-25, can result in the flattening of your vehicle's main cranking battery. The TDC-25 is not fitted with an isolator, so it will remain connected to the input battery until it has been physically disconnected. The use of an isolator will act to disconnect the TDC-25 and will protect the main battery. 

       Q. You say I need an isolator, should I use a VSR or ignition activated isolator?

      Q. I have an older vehicle and a VSR isolator fitted already, can I use this isolator with this TDC-25?
      Yes! Vehicle's dated prior to 2016-2017 are not usually prone to low voltage output. This means that a VSR will engage easily within these vehicles and you will certainly be able to use this model isolator in conjunction with the TDC-25

      The TDC-25 is rated to 25 Amps output and a filtered 13.8 Volts 
      Q. What input voltage do I need for the TDC-25 to work?
      The TDC-25 is designed with an input voltage of 8-36Volts. This makes the unit suitable for both 12volt and 24volt vehicles.
      Q. Do I need an ignition wire for low voltage vehicle?
      The TDC-25 is designed to engage at a voltage as little as 8 volts, so there is no need to install an ignition wire for low voltage vehicles!
      Q. Is the TDC25 available in a larger capacity?
      The TDC-25 is the largest size available, however, two or three chargers may be linked in parallel to order to increase the capacity of 50-75Amps! Please contact our staff with regards to this link kit
      Q. Can I use the TDC-25 with Lithium LiFePO4 batteries?
      Thumper offers a model available for Lithium LiFePO4 batteries! However, yes, if you own a Lithium battery that has the capability of charging from an AGM setting, then you may use this charger successfully for charging your Lithium battery.
      Q. Do you offer this TDC-25 as a pack with an isolator?

      No. The TDC-25 is purely a DC charger rated to 25 Amps (vehicle charging)
