Instructions for Fitting:
- Mount the Anderson rear box in the rear of the vehicle, within 1 meter of where the Thumper will be located.
- Run the twin core automotive cable (6mm) under the carpet or kick panel from the engine bay to the location of the rear Anderson box. (If the cable has been upgraded to 8mm, then it is recommended to run the cable under the body of the vehicle and secure within split conduit).
- Using the yellow crimp joiners, connect the Anderson rear box to the twin core cable by crimping both the positive and negative cable into the yellow crimp joiners. Using electrical tape, tape the crimp joiners / cable join for added protection (optional).
- Fasten the Relay Mount under the vehicle bonnet as close to the main starter battery as possible (within 600mm) - see notes on the fitting the Relay Mount in the above diagram.
-
Using the lugs provided, connect the length of 6mm (or 8mm) cable to the following:
- The positive (RED) cable will connect to the remaining ring terminal on the Relay Mount (see image above)
- The negative (BLACK) cable will connect either directly to the negative terminal of the starter battery, or, to the chassis bolt (a chassis bolt may not be fitted to all vehicles) - see notes in image above for more information.
- Connect the positive cable from the Relay Mount (the RED cable with split conduit) directly to the positive terminal of the starter battery.
-
The remaining thin RED wire on the Relay Mount must connect to an ignition activated power source. An ignition activated source is a positive connection that is live ONLY with the vehicle engine running and holds NO power when the ignition is OFF.
- For vehicles fitted with rain sensing wipers; it is recommended to use one of the Fuse-Taps provided to replace the fuse and connect this ignition wire.
- For all other vehicles, an ignition activated source can be located either within the loom to the windscreen wiper motor, or by tapping into the back of a socket (such as a cigarette socket).
- Connect the Anderson 1mt connecting lead to the Anderson rear box and to the Thumper.
-
Final Step - Testing the charging system
- Start the vehicle engine and increase the vehicle's RPM to approx 1500-2000 for 3 - 5 seconds. At this stage, allow for your vehicle to idle whilst checking the Thumper voltage. The voltage should start to increase on the Thumper display. --> If the voltage increases at this point, then you have successfully installed the charging system.

NOTES FOR RELAY MOUNT:
- The aluminum bracket on the Relay Mount must be mounted to the vehicle’s body. Mounting to the body will provide an earth connection to the relay.
* If the relay mount is fastened to a plastic surface or to a fibreglass body, then an additional earth wire must be connected to the aluminum bracket via one of the mount holes provided.
The Relay Mount is equipped with two optional pre-drilled mount holes. Either hole may be used to fasten the Relay Mount; alternatively, the top foot may be removed, or straightened, to allow for mounting to the rear firewall or side guard of the vehicle.
NOTES FOR IGNITION WIRE:
The Relay Mount has been fitted with an ignition wire. This wire must be fitted to any positive connection that is ONLY live when the vehicle’s ignition is ON. The power feed must hold NO power when the
vehicle’s ignition is OFF.
For vehicles fitted with rain sensing wipers; it is recommended to use one of the Fuse-Taps provided to replace the fuse and connect this ignition wire.
For all other vehicles, the most common ignition source can be found within the windscreen wiper motor loom.

The Bluetooth app offers the ability to control the charge or discharge loads from the battery by remotely switching ON / OFF the power via the Bluetooth App.
To turn either your charge or discharge loads off, simply switch the blue toggle (blue = ON) to instead show a blacked out toggle.
CHARGE SWITCH - to remotely disconnect all charge loads from the battery. Turning this particular switch OFF will prevent the battery from taking a charge load from any charging source, including the DC battery charger.
DISCHARGE SWITCH - to remotely disconnect all discharge loads from the battery. Turning this particular switch OFF will prevent the battery from running any appliance as it disconnects all loads from the battery. This is the perfect option to use when storing the battery.

General information:
Battery Chemistry, Charging & Maintenance:
The cells
The Thumper Lithium Battery Hub contains Lithium Phosphate LiFePO4 Prismatic cells. The battery holds a 5 year manufacturing warranty and is designed as the ideal option as a independent dual battery system.
Maintenance free & Internally Protected
The Thumper Lithium Battery Hub uses extremely safe and virtually maintenance free technology. The battery is internally secured for protection in harsh off-road conditions and has been designed with thermal stability protection, over voltage protection, under voltage protection and internal short circuit protection.
The battery is protected with dual temperature sensors on both the individual battery cells and the Battery Management System (BMS), both of which are easily monitored via a FREE downloadable Bluetooth App.
Bluetooth Monitoring
Monitoring the charge condition of the Battery Hub is an easy process through the Bluetooth App.
Not into apps? No problem, simply use the digital voltage meter fitted to the battery for a guide on the battery charge condition.
Voltage meter
The Thumper Battery Hub is considered to be fully charged when the battery meter is reading approx. 13.4 Volts and the LED bar graph around the voltage display illuminates with a minimum of three green bars.

240 Volt Charging
Included in the package is a 240 Volt 20 Amp battery charger.
This dedicated lithium LiFePO4 charger is fully regulated and designed to ensure that no overcharging will occur when in use. The Thumper Battery Hub may be stored with the 240 volt battery charger permanently connected, however, it is not necessary to do so.
The battery charger is designed to connect directly into the 50 Amp Anderson located on the front of the Battery Hub labelled ’12 Volt Input / Output’. Simply connect the charger to your 240 volt and directly into the battery hub. The charger will illuminate with a RED light when charging and will turn GREEN only once the battery has reached a full charge.
Isolating the Thumper Battery Hub / Storing
The Thumper Battery Hub is designed to include an isolation switch, making storing the battery hub extremely easy!
This isolation switch is available via the Bluetooth APP under a toggle switch named "DISCHARGE". If the Discharge switch is turned OFF, all loads will cease to draw off the battery; No power will be available at any connection point on the Thumper Battery Hub. The voltage meter will not illuminate, nor will any socket have power.
Only once the DISCHARGE toggle has been turned ON again, will all of the connections within the Battery Hub be restored with power. This ensures that when you are storing your Battery Hub, you do so with complete peace of mind that the battery will be charged and ready to use the very next time you need it.
Note: It is recommended to charge the Battery Hub via the use of the provided 240 Volt battery charger prior to each use.
Battery capacity, Maximum discharge and connection points
The Thumper Lithium Battery Hub offers 240 AH of usable battery power and is fitted internally with a ‘Battery Management System’ (BMS) rated to 200 Amps.
The 200 Amp BMS is equal to approx. 2400 watts of power. This refers to the maximum discharge capacity the battery can release to run heavy appliances such as Inverters, air compressors, etc. The maximum draw on the Thumper Lithium 240 AH Battery Hub is 2400 watts.
Low draw appliances are designed to connect directly into the 12 volt accessory sockets located on the front of the Thumper Battery Hub. Appliances with heavier draws, up to 50 Amps, can be connected via the 50 Amp Anderson connector labelled ’12 Volt Input / Output’.
For larger output requirements, exceeding 50 Amps but limited to 100 Amps, it is recommended to use the 120 Amp Anderson connector fitted to the Battery Hub
Using the DC battery Charger | Note: this section will not apply to models with no DC charger fitted
The Thumper Lithium Battery Hub includes optional models with or without a DC battery Charger. The DC battery charger has been hard-wired and internally protected with circuit breaker protection. The DC charger is wired to two dedicated 50 Amp Anderson connectors on the Thumper Battery Hub, labelled ‘Alternator Input’ and ‘Unregulated solar input’.
Alternator Input: The DC charger is designed to alter the input voltage from the vehicle to provide a regulated charge to the Thumper Lithium Battery Hub. Vehicle charging must be connected to the Anderson labelled ‘Alternator Input’ in order to utilize the DC Battery Charger.
If left to operate without an override, the DC charger will engage its charge when the vehicle’s starter battery reaches a charged voltage of approx. 13.2 volts.
In order to over-ride any low voltage issues the vehicle may experience, the Thumper Battery Hub has been equipped with a ‘Low Voltage Switch’. The low voltage switch is designed to work in conjunction with the DC battery charger and the wiring loom provided to allow the charger to operate as ‘ignition activated’, rather than activating on voltage
|
Switch in ON position: When ‘ON’ the ignition switch will illuminate blue and will act to immediately engage the DC charger The DC charger will no longer isolate from the vehicle starter battery when this switch is ON. It is recommended to install the vehicle wiring loom if using this switch as the isolator in the loom will act to isolate the main battery from the Battery Hub. |
|
Switch in OFF position: When ‘OFF’ the switch will allow the DC Charger to run normally as voltage sensitive. The DC charger will require a minimum voltage of 13.0 Volts from the main start battery in order to engage the DC Charger. When the main vehicle battery drops below 12.7 Volts (indicating the vehicle is no longer charging), then the DC charger will disconnect. |
Unregulated solar input: The Anderson connector labelled ‘Unregulated solar input’ allows or the connection of an unregulated solar panel. In order to use this connection, the panel must not have a regulator fitted. The voltage input of the solar panel must be between 9-33 volts and must not exceed 420 watts.
Vehicle wiring loom: The Battery Hub includes a complete vehicle wiring loom. Please refer to the TUR-L instructions for fitting.
